Kiara Thomas

Social Worker
Kiara Thomas, MSW, BSW, RSW is a social worker who prioritizes using strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and client-centred perspectives when working with children and their families. Kiara is passionate about supporting families as they navigate concerns related to anxiety, behaviour and emotion regulation, chronic illness, selective mutism, attachment, racial identity, and gender/sexual identity.
Kiara received her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with a minor in Indigenous Studies from McMaster University and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from University of Toronto with a specialization in Children and their Families. Throughout her MSW, Kiara completed six months of training in Family Therapy. She has also received training in various modalities and interventions including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mental Health First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
Kiara has experience working in youth shelters, day treatment, live-in treatment, and community mental health settings. She strives to create a non-judgemental therapeutic space where families feel supported to work towards goals that are meaningful to them.
