    Hara Wu
    MSW, RSW

    Social Worker

Hara Wu, MSW RSW is a Registered Social Worker dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families in navigating various mental health challenges. She has over 12 years of clinical experience working in various settings, including community agencies, hospitals, paediatric clinics, and crisis helplines. Hara is committed to helping young people and their families build stronger relationships, discover adaptive coping strategies, and elicit hope towards better overall wellbeing and positive change. She uses strength-based and family-centred care to support her patients in navigating challenges with emotion regulation, defiant and impulsive behaviours, suicidality, and neurodiversity (i.e., autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities). She also has experience with eating disorders, grief, and loss.

Hara enjoys working from an integrative approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, attachment-based family therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. She is well-versed in solution-focused therapy and crisis interventions (i.e., ASIST and CPI). Utilizing a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens, Hara values the patient as the “expert” of their own lived experience and appreciates the inner strengths each patient and their family bring. Hara aims to co-create a compassionate space with her patients so that they can feel heard and understood in the therapeutic process. Recognizing the importance of bridging existing gaps in the healthcare system, Hara works collaboratively with schools, hospitals, and other healthcare settings to ensure coordinated care across the system.

Hara has a background in Psychology and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto, with a specialization in Mental Health and Health. With lived experience as an immigrant, Hara embodies a culturally sensitive approach when working with children and families from diverse cultural contexts, offering empathic attunement to the nuances of immigration and adjustment. Hara is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
