A fun introduction to physical fitness in a supportive group environment
A-STAR Exercise Group Therapy is a physiotherapy-based group for youth in Grades 4 to 8 who would benefit from increasing their physical activity in a supportive setting. Through structured games and movement-based activities, participants are encouraged to move, build physical skills, and connect with peers.
This group supports autistic youth in developing gross motor skills and whole-body movement. Sessions focus on improving core strength, balance, and coordination within a low-pressure, social environment that emphasizes teamwork and active participation.
A pre-group assessment is conducted in order to determine specific needs, goals, and identify areas for improvement. After the 6 group sessions, a post-group assessment will be completed to re-evaluate the progress made towards meeting individual goals.
This group is facilitated by a Registered Physiotherapist and will take place in-person at the clinic.
Programming Includes:
- Pre-group 30-minute individual assessment
- 6 weekly group sessions
- Post-group 30-minute individual assessment
