Eating Disorders
Our Eating Disorders team includes a consulting paediatrician, registered dietitians, social workers, and nursing staff who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive, family centred care.
The Eating Disorders Clinic at Boomerang Health provides assessment and treatment for children and adolescents experiencing eating disorders, disordered eating, and feeding difficulties.
We provide assessment and treatment for:
- Anorexia Nervosa (AN)
- Bulimia Nervosa (BN)
- Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
- Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
- Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED)
- Disordered eating behaviours and body image concerns
- Menstrual irregularities and amenorrhea
- Athletes experiencing disordered eating or Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)
- Feeding difficulties associated with anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or medical conditions
- Co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive symptoms, and challenges related to growth, nutrition, and development
Our Approach
Our team uses evidence based, multidisciplinary treatment approaches tailored to each child, adolescent, and family. Services may include:
- Comprehensive medical, nutrition, and psychosocial assessment
- Collaborative medical monitoring
- Nutrition assessment, counselling, and meal support
- Family Based Therapy (FBT) and caregiver guidance
- Individual therapy and skills based interventions
- Group programs and workshops for youth and caregivers, when appropriate
Our goal is to support medical stability, nutritional rehabilitation, psychological well-being, and a return to age appropriate functioning while empowering families to play an active role in recovery.
