Caregiver Workshop: Supporting Families in Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder
Supporting Families in Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder is an introductory and practical workshop designed to help caregivers better understand how autistic children experience and process the world. Grounded in a neurodevelopmental and strengths-based perspective, this workshop supports caregivers in reframing behaviour as communication, recognizing that skills develop at different rates across areas of functioning, and understanding the critical role of regulation in a child’s ability to meet expectations.
Caregivers will learn how to interpret behaviour through a compassionate and developmentally informed lens, emphasizing that regulation comes before expectations. This workshop introduces core concepts such as co-regulation as the foundation for self-regulation, and highlights how prioritizing connection over compliance leads to more meaningful and lasting outcomes.
This program is facilitated by a Registered Psychologist and takes place virtually over Teams.
