Psychologist & Team Leader Job Opportunity
Full-Time One Year Contract Position
A child’s healthcare needs are complex, and because every family wants and deserves the highest level of care, SickKids opened a community based healthcare clinic in Vaughan, Ontario, just north of Toronto, called Boomerang Health. Boomerang Health is a warm and welcoming place where families can easily access a range of services for their children. Rehabilitation services include psychology, speech-language pathology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, massage therapy, nutrition, and audiology. Medical services include sports medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology.

Job Summary:
- This position is full-time, Monday to Friday with a mix of daytime, afterschool and evening hours
- One year contract to cover a maternity leave, with the potential to remain on staff at the end of the initial contract
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats learning, behavioural and social-emotional problems within the context of the child’s developmental history and family functioning
- Designs and carries out comprehensive psychological assessments in order to understand a child’s or adolescent’s current developmental, cognitive, academic, social-emotional and behavioural functioning
- Provides feedback and recommendations to families, and liaises with referring physicians, school staff and other relevant community agencies
- Provides assessment and evidence-based interventions for childhood anxiety and depression, difficulties with emotion regulation, social skills or behavior, parenting struggles and family conflict within child and youth populations
- Actively involved in family education initiatives
- Manages a varied caseload and meets required timelines to complete reports and provide feedback to families in a timely way
- Manages a team of professionals within the psychology department, with duties including regular check-ins, performance management, professional development, quality assurance, and recruitment
- Provides supervision to supervised practice psychologists
- Develops and implements new initiatives, programs and improvements
- Manages business needs of the department to meet goals
- Collaborates with other team members and team leads on clinical and non-clinical projects
- Represents Boomerang Health at external events
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with competencies in assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and families
- Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum five years clinical experience
- Strong proficiency in assessment and evidence-based interventions with children, and interviewing and educating families
- Experience in family therapy and individual therapy with adolescents
- Experience with group therapy for children and adolescents an asset
- Evidence-based practice is required
- Supervisory experience of early career psychologists
- Experience managing a team
- Proven ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
