Dr. Jeffrey R. del Rosario
Jeffrey R. del Rosario, Psy.D., C. Psych. is a registered clinical and school psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) who services children and adolescents. The psychological services he provides include assessment (e.g., psychological, psychoeducational, and gifted), individual therapy (cognitive-behavioural therapy, and some knowledge of dialectical behavioural therapy), and consultation to parents, schools, and treatment-team members for a variety of concerns. These concerns include (but are not limited to) common childhood diagnoses, such as Intellectual and Learning Disabilities, Communication Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety/Depressive Disorders, and Trauma- and Stressor-Related Disorders. Assessment and treatment plans are tailored to each client’s unique strengths and area(s) of needs, while such plans are communicated to the client’s parent(s)/caregiver(s) with genuine empathy.
Dr. del Rosario received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. His research experience and dissertation, which was published in a major scientific journal, was on the impact of structured comic/improvisational exercises on symptoms of social anxiety. Prior to graduate school, he received his Bachelor of Science at The University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Over the last 10 years, Dr. del Rosario has been providing psychological services for different agencies who service children and adolescent populations. His pre-doctoral internship was conducted at Switzer Learning Center in Torrance, California, where he provided assessment and therapy services to elementary and high school students with severe social-emotional-behavioural-academic difficulties, along with consultation services to the teaching staff. From here, Dr. del Rosario was a clinical psychologist at Lutherwood in Waterloo, Ontario, where similar services were provided in their residential and day treatment programs. This included psychoeducational assessments from physician and school-based referrals, and consultation support to Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region. Partnering with RBC and their Children’s Mental Health Project initiative, Dr. del Rosario was interviewed to explore common mental health disorders in children and adolescents.
In addition to working at Boomerang Health, Dr. del Rosario is currently a school psychologist with the Peel District School Board who services two elementary schools, one secondary school, and a suspension/expulsion program. Psychological services include administering psychoeducational and gifted assessments, conducting individual therapy sessions, consulting with various teachers-administrators-superintendents, running training sessions on verbal de-escalation techniques, and providing feedback sessions to parents and students based on the results of such assessments.
