Dr. Johanna Every
Psychologist (Supervised Practice)
Johanna Every, Ph.D., C. Psych (Supervised Practice) specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families presenting with a wide range of mental health difficulties. Over her years of extensive clinical training and experience, she has become well-versed working with anxiety, mood disorders, emotion and behaviour dysregulation, learning and attentional difficulties, adjustment disorders, trauma, and autism spectrum disorder. She also helps youth and their families with other issues such as managing upsetting emotions, parenting concerns/challenges within the home, school specific challenges, and social/peer difficulties. In the interest of working collaboratively with her clients, Dr. Every draws from various therapeutic orientations, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), to create treatment plans that promote strength and resilience, build trust, and help achieve meaningful change.
Dr. Every earned her doctorate in School/Applied Child psychology from McGill University. Her educational background also includes a Master’s of Arts (Educational Psychology) and
a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in Psychology from McGill University. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical psychology residency at the Centerstone of Florida Consortium, one of America’s largest non-profit behavioural health organizations, where she acted as both an outpatient child therapist and an evaluator in the diagnostic clinic for individuals, families, and groups presenting with severe mental health challenges, including complex trauma. Dr. Every also served as a practicum intern at the Jewish General Hospital’s Child Psychiatry Outpatient Department and the McGill Psycho-Educational & Counseling Clinic. Dr. Every has also worked extensively with Indigenous communities in northern Quebec as both a researcher and a clinician. Currently, she splits her time between Boomerang Health and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB).
