Part-Time, Maternity Leave Contract

Job Summary:

  • This position is a part-time Maternity Leave contract beginning May 2014
  • Provides comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and intervention to children with movement dysfunction related to neurological, musculoskeletal or cardiorespiratory conditions
  • Provides post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Follows evidence-based approach to assessment and treatment
  • Manages a varied caseload and meets required timelines
  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Record system
  • Communicates effectively and maintains relationships with referring physicians, healthcare providers and other relevant community stakeholders
  • Provides education and feedback to families
  • Available to work evening shifts
  • Manages the inventory of physiotherapy supplies and equipment
  • Other duties as require


  • Master’s/ Baccalaureate in Physical Therapy, with experience in pediatric assessment/treatment
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario


  • Proficiency in assessment and providing evidence-based neurodevelopmental interventions for infants/toddlers, children and adolescents
  • Minimum three to five years of experience working in a community-based or outpatient-based physiotherapy setting
  • Experience with NDT/Bobath preferred
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to interact with children and adults
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills required
