Psychologist (Currently on Maternity Leave)
Marina Heifetz, Ph.D., C.Psych. specializes in assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Heifetz completed her doctorate training in the Clinical-Developmental Psychology program at York University. She has experience conducting comprehensive psycho-educational, socio-emotional, and developmental assessments, and providing evidence based interventions to children, youth, and families for a variety of mental health concerns. Dr. Heifetz has training and experience working with individuals with a range of developmental and mental health conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety and mood disorders, disruptive behaviour disorders, learning disabilities, and parent-child conflict. She also has a special interest and experience in leading individual and group mindfulness sessions for children, youth, and parents with various mental health concerns.
Dr. Heifetz completed her pre-doctoral residency at Surrey Place Centre, which specializes in clinical services for children, youth, and adults with various developmental disabilities. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), focusing primarily on promoting health and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families through both research and clinical work. Dr. Heifetz also completed clinical placements in hospital and community-based settings. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at professional conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Heifetz has special interest in sport psychology and currently serves as the Clinical Director at the Special Olympics Ontario: Strong Minds (a mental health initiative for athletes with developmental disabilities).
